Okavango House Boats

Bayete Estate & Spa

We are approached often by clients to manufacture once off items. Due to the nature of some of these items, they are designed and built with special methods enabling us to complete a single item without having to manufacture molds.

Some items represent an opportunity to manufacture in volume. We will develop this product, make a mold and present the client with a sample. If then needed, we can move this product into full scale production. These items are special requests only and are carefully screened to not interfere with the production and delivery of our main product lines. The client is responsible for the cost of developing the mold and manufacturing of the first product.

However, we pride ourselves that we have this capability and use it to learn more about the challenges of manufacturing strange items in fibreglass.

Here are a couple of examples of such items.

Lawnmower grass collection box

This client acquired a dilapidated sit-on-lawnmower, but the grass collection box was not included. He commissioned us to manufacture a collection box. This was accomplished saving approximately R 7500 on the cost of purchasing a new collection box

Water purifier box

This client commissioned a box for the installation of water purifiers outside the home. Standard installation is inside a house, this takes up lots of space. With this installation, no space is wasted inside the house

Botany Heated Towel rails (March 2006)

Friends own this business. We made them this special container to house their cleaning chemicals. It is a chemical resistant insulated dip tank. Does not look like much, but with the Scott Bader materials we employ, we can accommodate strange requests

Our most exiting project up to this stage has been this.

We are working on a project that can change the way we learn and teach our children. We will start devoting a page to this project as soon as we have a working prototype. Here are some pictures to intrigue you for now.

Adventure biking (January 2007)

We also make very small items. This casting we made for a client who organises adventure races in the Knysna Forest. The real item is a data logger, they use to verify the position of the racers, some are however not the real thing. We cats those

Outside Geyser cover (July 2007)

These items we made for a client who owns a apartment building in Knysna. They installed the geysers on the outside of the building. Rain and moisture was a constant problem causing electrical problems.

We made these covers from flat sheets to solve the problem. No related problems have been reported since installation.

Lamp post roof  (August 2007)

This Lamp post roof was manufactured from an existing example. The lamp was originally made from steel. These are stolen regularly. To replace the steel, wooden ones were used. These did not last.

We manufactured a mold to the exact measurements, and made these tops form fibreglass. These should last a very long time, and still look good.

Model aeroplane engine cowling (February 2008)

The client wanted an authentic looking engine cowling for his radio controlled model plane. We manufacture a mold for him and guided him in making his own products

Vintage van cover & wing (February 2008)

The client was rebuilding an early 70's Chevy van. He wanted a cover for the rear incorporating a wing.

Celtel Kiosks (August 2007)

We we approached by a promotional company to manufacture a large number of these kiosks for a cellular company. They were exported Malawi.
Unfortunately these were one of those business deals you most often wish you never heard of. This deal caused the closure of 4 other fibreglass companies who were also involved in the manufacture.
